The vague definition of terms used to describe relevant concepts for humanized barriers proves to be a barrier that continues to limit the impact of interventions to make healthcare more humanized. With a consensus definition of “humanizing medicineā€, we can frame current problems to orient stakeholders to obtain more solvable, imaginable solutions that may include the integration of AI technologies in the future.

The authors will use a GCM-based study to create an operational definition of humanized medicine from the perspectives of a broad array of stakeholders and begin to identify the most important gaps at JHM. A variety of stakeholders in medicine including patients, community leaders, physicians, nurses, and other providers, administrators, health professions learners, educators, and researchers will contribute to defining the domains of humanized medicine.
