Newborn News: Promoting Positive Memories for Newborns and Family through Professional Quality Photos

Unfortunately, surgery involves risks intra-operatively and post-operatively, and outcomes cannot be predicted. This team aims to provide families of all newborn cardiac patients admitted to the PCICU with positive memories in a stressful situation before any surgical operation. The PCICU nursing staff will be trained to provide these opportunities for professional quality newborn photos.
The ‘Newborn News’ initiative also includes presenting families with information on religious/baptismal services at JHCC and encouraging sibling and extended family visits prior to any scheduled surgical interventions. This would allow families and patients a chance to meet/bond prior to facing any risks of surgery.
