Food is an experience that connects people through barriers and differences. However, when providers recommend a diet with many do’s and dont’s that seem confusing and overwhelming, patients may feel frustrated and alienated. Following these recommendations to eat a healthy diet can sound like threading the needle for many people, especially when their understanding of terms we use to describe food may be limited.

This Cooking with Care team aims to make healthy eating more achievable, while promoting connectedness between patients and the healthcare team.1-2 recipes will be collected from healthcare providers, staff and interested patients to model how we personally put diet recommendations into practice to make healthy meals for our families. These recipes will be optimized so that they can be made by people with limited cooking experience, access to heat or electricity for cooking, and access to food.
