Humanizing Education

Our mission of respect and care

There is so much content and knowledge for healthcare professionals to learn and master during their training and continuing professional development. Nonetheless, the art of communication and the ability to connect with people are some of the most important parts of caring.

The CHM team is committed to influencing curricula and educational programs such that:

  1. This type of content is taught and modeled more effectively;
  2. All learners feel safe and respected during their ongoing training and growth.

Aliki Initiative

The Aliki Initiative at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is a wonderful example of prioritizing ‘coming to really know the patient as a person’ in medical education. A most prominent theme for this inpatient training rotation is to connect deeply and meaningfully with every patient.
