Dr. Ruben Troncoso Jr., MD, MPH

Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine

I care about humanizing medicine because I want patients to feel that their concerns are being addressed, I want patients to feel empowered to participate in their medical care, and I believe that when care is humanized clinicians face less burn out and find meaning in their work.

Activities Related to Humanizing Medicine

Clinical Care: Patient centered decision making in the emergency department. I have an interest in incorporating the patient’s primary concerns and understanding of medical risk into the diagnostic pathways that occur in the emergency department.

Research: Measuring concordance of patient concerns vs clinician concerns in the emergency department. As an IHM Grant recipient, we focused our research on measuring the concordance between patient and clinician priorities in the emergency department.
