Activities Related to Humanizing Medicine
Education: I am a scheduled instructor for the regularly scheduled Navigating Critical Illness education sessions for all new Critical Care Nurses at JHH and JHBMC. This includes lectures and discussions on navigating ethical complexities around topics like brain death, ECMO and moral distress.
Research: In addition to setting up a longitudinal follow up with ethnographic interviews of patients with extended stays in the Neurocritical Care unit, I have also worked to implement the TIMS initiative in the NCCU, including a new expansion to include a shared resource of TIMS for all providers. I also serve as a mentor and co-investigator on a project to study the role of live music therapy on outcomes in patients with disorders of consciousness.
