Dr. Rebecca Wright, PhD

Assistant Professor

I care about humanizing medicine because it should never have been non-humanized.

Activities Related to Humanizing Medicine

Education: Across all courses that I teach I include and involve community members to provide them and our students with the opportunity to connect outside of the healthcare environment, and learn from each to improve experiences of care.

Research: My program of research uses the methodology experience-based co-design – a form of participatory action research. This approach brings patients, families, and staff together, where they collaboratively use their experiences as the driver for change to improve care interactions. I currently have 11 students completed or in progress focusing on palliative care using this methodology in different settings, conditions, and populations.

Leadership/Administrative: I was honoured to serve as the inaugural Director for Diversity for the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing from 2023-2024.
