Dr. Eric Garfinkel, DO

Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine

I care about humanizing medicine because being a patient can be a terrifying and confusing process and it is our obligation to provide hope and compassion.

Activities Related to Humanizing Medicine

Clinical Care: Patient centered decision making in the emergency department. My goal is to increase emphasis on the patient’s wishes when it comes to medical decision making in the emergency department.

Research: Measuring concordance of patient concerns vs clinician concerns in the emergency department. Our IHM Grant project focused on measuring the frequency with which the patient and treating clinician had the same top priorities when being treated in the emergency department.
